LADIES STEP-DANCE VIDEO

The title "Ladies Step-Dance", or "Ladies Step" as it is often abrieviated to, was coined to define a style of dance which was gentle, baletic and soft and in all probabillity is closer to the style taught to young ladies by the Dance Masters of the 19th Century. It was created around 1960 when Isobel Cramb introduced a dance titled "The Pas de Duex for The Misses Grant of Monymusk" which she composed to provide an alternative style of dance specifically for the female Country Dancer who wished to dance solo dances, but without the precision of Highland Step-Dance. This dance was composed to an Air written by Franz Hayden and was followed by The Pas de Trois for the Misses Glennie The style of dance attracted dance composers such as Irene Fidler who published six of her dances and then a prolification of composers there after. To this end I have only included performances of dances executed within this style.
